Fayose and I don’t fear death, says Fani-Kayode

A former Minister of Information, Femi Fani-Kayode, has explained why he attended the recent declaration of Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, to contest the 2019 presidential election.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Fani-Kayode stated that he and Fayose shared similar qualities.

The ex-minister noted that the governor “would make an excellent president and effect the necessary changes and the restructuring that our country desperately needs.”

He said, “We came from completely different backgrounds and we do not agree on everything, but we have a similar disposition and we share the same perspective on most things.

“Fayose is not bound up in fear and he is not chained down by political correctness. He speaks the raw and bitter truth and he stands up for the weak and the defenceless. We both love God and we are both men of strength, courage, faith and destiny. The spirit of David and Jehu runs through us both. We neither fear death nor incarceration and we hate injustice, evil and oppression.

“The truth is that he has done an excellent job in Ekiti State and he has consistently and fearlessly stood against the evil of the Buhari administration. He has constantly kept them on their toes. He is a Yoruba man who has the courage and conviction to say that he wants to be president. Why would I not stand with him and attend the launch of his campaign?”

In a related development, posters of Fayose campaigning for president in 2019 have flooded Benue State. One of our correspondents spotted the posters on major streets, including Wurukum and High Level Roundabout, Atiku Abubakar Way and others within the capital city of Makurdi.

The poster read, “Meet your next president 2019: solution 2019.”

Meanwhile, The arrest of two commissioners in Ekiti by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has further affected the relationship between Fayose and the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Dayo Adeyeye.

The EFCC had on Thursday arrested the Commissioner for Finance, Toyin Ojo, and the Accountant General, Mrs. Yemisi Owolabi, for their alleged roles in the diversion of a N7bn bailout.

Probably moved by the refusal of the national headquarters of the party to condemn the arrest, Fayose, who spoke through the Ekiti State PDP Publicity Secretary, Mr. Jackson Adebayo, accused PDP of abandoning the state chapter to its fate, an allegation Adeyeye denied.

Adebayo said, “If Adeyeye, whose duty is to defend our party and its members, cannot speak against the unlawful arrest of officials of the PDP government of his state because the governor did not support his governorship ambition, which PDP-controlled state will he defend?”

Responding to the allegation, Adeyeye told newsmen, “I wish to let our party members in Ekiti State know that nobody, neither the governor nor the State Executive in Ekiti State, informed the National Caretaker Committee of this party of the incident, even though the governor was in Abuja on Thursday. We only read about it like every other Nigerian in the newspapers.”

  3. Of course, you and Fayose share similar qualities in lies, propaganda, deciet, embezzlement and stealing. Your types can not rule this country without having grand parents of problems. In fact, Fayose doesn't fit into who can be the President of Nigeria.
