Some Nigerian senators have
donated no fewer than 1,260 bags of rice to civil servants in Kogi state to
alleviate their sufferings.
This was made known to
Journalists on Wednesday by the senator representing Kogi West in the National
Assembly, Dino Melaye.
According to Melaye, the
donations were made in response to his clarion call on his colleagues to assist
in cushioning the effect of hardship the civil servants who were yet-to-be paid
their salaries for over 22 months
The senator, who also disclosed
that the donations included some bags of fertiliser, said: “Gentlemen, you are
aware of acute hardship in Kogi state workforce now due to over 22 months of
non payment of salaries.
“At our level, we will continue
to do our best to assist where necessary particularly that the situation has
led to suicides across the state now”, he added.
Melaye said it was necessary that
he informed his colleagues about the hardships orchestrated by the present
administration of governor Yahaya Bello; stressing that the spate of suicide
witnessed in the state was a result of hardship experienced by the workers.
The highest donor that made it to
1,200 bags of rice came from senator Atai Aidoko whomdomate about 70 bags of
rice.
Dino promised that the items
would get to Kogi workers, adding that lawmakers would heed to calls by Kogi

Dino, nothing for you 2019. There is no Buhari/broom tsunami again. What will such amount of rice do to kogi civil servant if and only if the governor is not paying.
ReplyDeleteclock-in & clock-out period if you are a genuine worker the governor said. Why is this hard for the labour force.
God bless you Dino. At least you were sensitive to the plight of humanity.
