The Northern youths’ group called
Arewa Youths, under the aegis of the Northern Youth Coalition, has claimed that
the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, is trying to
destabilize President Muhammadu Buhari’s government before 2019.
The group also urged all
Northerners living in any part of Nigeria, to ignore any agitation, as IPOB’s
aim is to provoke reactions or reprisal attacks.
Spokesman of the group, AbdulAziz
Suleiman, alongside other leaders such as Yarima Shatima and Mastura Sharif
gave the statement in Kano on Wednesday, during a press conference at the
Nigerian Union of Journalists’ Press Centre.
According to the group, “all the
violent activities playing out are well planned to escalate by 2019, and
starting from 2018 to prevent a successful conduct of elections and eventually
the collapse of this Buhari government and democracy in Nigeria.
“In this situation, it is
essential that the north and northerners remain restrained and refuse to be
provoked into reprisals which is the ultimate hope of the conflict instigators.
“The agitations and disturbances
that have been ongoing ceaselessly since the coming of Buhari/Osibanjo
administration are aimed at rendering the country practically ungovernable and
ushering in of anarchy and instability, thereby occasioning a change of
government by whatever means.
“And the singling out of Buhari for attacks is a
tactics to cause inter-regional crisis possibly leading to general unrest.”

ReplyDeleteNnamdi Kanu has been making noise since GEJ was in power but as wise as GEJ is, he ignored d guy, but dis daff man we call president suddenly made Kanu and IPOB popular and u foolish Arewa leaders want to blame Kanu. You guys should think like humans.
ReplyDeleteI've always said it. There is no true unity in the contraption called Nigeria. One region is always blaming the other whenever there's a problem or insurgency instead of collective effort to tackle the problem. Igbos and South-South blamed the north for using Boko haram to destabilise Jonathan's govt. Now the North is blaming the South for an attempt to do the same to Buhari's govt. There is no true sense of oneness and unity. We are all lying to eachother and deceiving ourselves. I'll suggest a referendum to decide if we still want to remain as one or go our different ways and let like minded people, culture and language form their own countries and governments. Then there won't be finger-pointing and blame game anymore. Enough of this lie.
ReplyDeleteNnamdi KANU demand never started in this regime, just that Pres.GEJ never gave him the so needed attention or recognition and so his activities/agitations were whittled down, but what have we here a dictatorial and forceful leadership. Buhari made Nnamdi KANU popular and world hero. Whether you believe it or not Nnamdi KANU as as popular or even more popular than Buhari.
