The Hausa community in Ogun State has alleged that the state government has marginalised its members in the scheme of things, especially in the area of appointment.
The Arewa community said despite its support for the All Progressives Congress during the last general elections in the state, the government did not deem it fit to appoint one of its members into the government.
The Arewa community spoke through its interim state chairman, Alhaji Sheu Uthman, on Sunday in Sagamu during an interactive meeting he had with Arewa leaders in various local government areas in the state.
Uthman noted that there were sizeable number of Hausa people who live in Sagamu, Abeokuta, Ifo, and Ijebu-Ode among others.
He said, ” In Ogun State for now, we don’t have any Hausa man that is representing us in the government, both at the state and local government levels.
“Though we have Awwal who is in Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, we expect government of the day to at least in terms of appointment give us three or five slots in local government areas like Sagamu, Abeokuta North, Ifo, and Ijebu-Ode.
“In those local government areas, we have a lot of Hausa people living there.
“At least we deserve to have one or two representatives in these local government areas, but the government did everything without us. We have no problem over that, we are loyal party members.”
While speaking on the current situation in the country, Uthman urged its members in the state to steer clear of violence and live in peace with other tribes in the state.

ReplyDeleteHow many Yoruba people are in government in the whole of the North East and North West despite the massive vote they gave to APC during the 2015 election? I will sympathize with them if they can name one person who is either a commissioner of chairman of any state government board in any of the states in the North East and North West.
