Why ‘Return or Resign’ protest against president is unnecessary – Festus Keyamo

Popular lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria-designate, Festus Keyamo, has faulted the “Return or Resign” protest against President Muhammadu Buhari.

Keyamo, who described the protest as unpopular among Nigerians said protesters should have campaigned for the return and prosecution of looters and not an ill-President.

In a series of tweets on his social media, the popular lawyer wrote: “I commend the spirit of #ReturnOrResign, but the protest we need is #ReturnToFaceTrial of looters hibernating in London and other foreign cities.

“The failure of thousands of Nigerians to join #ReturnOrResign shows how unpopular the cause is, but they’ve a right to protest, even if it is solo.

“We cannot applaud those who didn’t launch #Resign against a President who smuggled cash of $9mill to South/A but did against one that’s ill.

“I’ll be more convinced to join protests calling for d resignation of a President on issues of corruption than one whose ‘offence’ is illness.”

  1. Festus Keyamo, I guess you are out of your mind. Are you following the ongoings in the world? Senator John McCain of the US Senate was diagnosed of aggressive brain cancer and the whole world was told. Are you aware of that? Why is the diagnosis of Buhari's ill-health being shielded? How can you, for instance, pray against the ailment you don't know? Keyamo, is that why the police had to brutalize the protesters? The protesters were not wrong, get that into your head Keyamo. It's good for looters to be prosecuted, but that can be done not only by Buhari. After all, Buhari wasn't the one that set up EFCC. Okay ?

  2. Festus is Sick and unfortunately for him he thinks Nigerians are brainless as he is. He has sold his soul for porridge. You mean that a president abandons a country he swore to protect for nearly one third of a year in one instance alone and he thinks Nigerians should carry on as if nothing happened. What level of moral debasement! ... Posterity will judge all of you!!!!... and it won't be long. Where is your conscience???? Continue.....Like your master, he just found out that Karma is indeed a bitch and may what you wish this country manifest on every aspect of your lives in Jesus Name. Let those promise to lead you to glory abandon you in the middle of the way...IJN.

    1. The president didn't abandon the country, he properly handed over in line with the constitution and the country is running smoothly. So what's your headache saying an ill person should come home? Is it that he can die for you to be happy? Hypocrites

  3. Keyamo, must you tweet? Solve your differences with President Jonathan. Your position is very bias and lack objectivity.

  4. Festus is at the right track, they could have protested for speedy prosecution and trail of looters, than to protest because someone's sickness. If they are sincere they could have protest in 2013 when Boko Haram are took over fourteen L.G.A's in north east. Now they are busy backing corruption tactically.
