PHOTOS: Buhari rewards victorious female basketball team

The victorious female national basketball team, D’Tigeress has been received by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday morning.

He met with the Basketball Team at the council chambers, after they won the Afrobasket Championship title for the first time in 12 years in Mali and and qualified for the 2018 FIBA Women Basketball World Cup in Spain.

President Buhari also disclosed that each player will receive the sum of a million naira while the team officials will receive half a million.

Team captain, Aisha Mohammed told reporters that the cash reward would spur them to go for gold in Spain next year.

Nigeria defeated defending champions Senegal to win the trophy in Mali on Sunday night.
