The Ohanaeze Ndigbo has lambasted
the “silence” of some northern leaders on the hate songs against Igbos
currently trending in the country.
Ohanaeze also gave notice to the
Federal government to deal with the situation decisively “or forever be held
responsible for the consequences this abdication of responsibility provoke”.
President General of the Ohanaeze
Ndigbo, Chief John Nnia Nwodo, in a statement on Thursday said it was
surprising that northern leaders were yet to openly condemn the hate songs.
Nwodo said: “The current Hausa
hate song trending in the social media is despicable, sad and disappointing.
Ohanaeze is appalled that prominent leaders in the north (with the exception of
a few), have allowed this development to flourish without reproach.
“The Arewa youths have stoked the
embers of hatred to a discomforting temperature. The toleration of their
criminal conduct has potrayed the Federal government as biased and unfair.”
“Their quit notice to fellow Nigerians to
leave any part of Nigeria strikes at the fundamental rights of citizenship. It
is a call for the dissolution of the country. Their call for an inventory and
seizure of assets of Nigerians living in the North is conversion. It amounts to
a day light robbery of lawful property.
“The declaration of mop up action
after October 1st, 2017 to deal with those who resist their quit notice order
is a declaration of war. It is surprising that on top of all these a hate song
calling for more hatred, despise and “abortion” has been allowed to fester.
“Yet no one is arrested. All the
orders of arrest from Kaduna state and the IGP seem to be ambivalent and
unreal. The youths meet freely with Governors of Northern Nigeria and Northern
leaders showing that they enjoy their support.
“This development signals the
beginning of a national catastrophe which if not nipped in the bud will
snowball into incalculable damage to our continued existence as one country”.

Ohaneze Ndi Igbo is a disgrace to the whole Igbo nation for their inability to take a bold and decisive step in this matter. Igbos should remember what happened in the North after the failed major Nzeogwu kaduna coup, how the Igbos were massacred in the North, in Nigeria, their country. leaders of Ohaneze should as a matter of urgency advised their people to vacate the region. Human live is far more valuable than properties.
ReplyDeleteHutchen, did I hear you say 'in Nigeria their country'? I think you people said you want Biafra!why do you still love to stay in the North which is a part of Nigeria you called "zoo"? The "Almajiris" (the title used by the Igbo's when referring to the Northerners) are only helping you to actualise your dream of Biafra.
DeleteYou Igbo's started the hate speech calling every other tribe in Nigeria derogatory names and calling Nigeria a zoo and a contraption put together by the British. Look, this is to tell the Igbos that no one has the monopoly of violence in any form. You want the Arewa Youth Leader arrested? Sorry, the first person that must be arrested as far as hate speech is concern is Nnamdi Kalu the so called leader of IPOB. He started it all, the Arewa Youth and the rest of the country are only responding to his foolish action.
Ohaneze is useless. They go and beg in Abuja for breadcrumbs after telling IPOB to drop their agitation and not even get a whiff of an agreement to restructuring from our feudal colonisers from the north. Old Igbo men of easy virtue. I do not blame Nigeria but the uselessness of so called Igbo leaders. Selfish old men unworthy of respect. May every suffering Igbo man curse then
ReplyDeleteBuhari/Osinbajo/APC government is very biased and hypocritical. They must go and arrest the parasitic Arewa Youths who issued quit notice to fellow Nigerian citizens living in the north. What kind of a nation issues its citizens quit notice. Despite their hate speech, terrorism and treason, Buhari/Osinbajo/APC government is still treating them with kid glove. It’s Nnamdi Kanu – the leader of Biafra nation they want to arrest. They are looking for second civil war.
