Lere Olayinake, the Special
Adviser to Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State on New Media, has slammed the
Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris over his recent claim that the
Chairman, Senate Committee on Navy, Isah Hamma Misau, is a deserter.
The Inspector-General of Police,
Ibrahim Idris and Misau had been on warpath following the latter’s recent claim
that the IG extorted money, ranging from N10m to N15m, from Commissioners of
Police, State Mobile Commanders and Special Protection Units (SPU) Commanders,
for favourable postings.
Misau also alleged that Idris
allegedly makes N10bn monthly from oil companies and other private individuals
who enjoyed special protection from the security agency.
However, in his response, the
Nigeria Police Force insisted that, Misau, did not retire from the Force as at
the time he contested for Senate. The police subsequently declared Misau
wanted.
Reacting to the drama, Olayinka
warned the IGP to stop disgracing Nigeria with his ignorance, saying that you
can only declare a man wanted when he is not reachable.
He said, “You can only declare someone wanted if you don’t know where and how to get him. Senator Misau is in the National Assembly, with policemen as his security aides.Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday
“The question IGP must answer is Senator Misau’s N120bn, we are not interested in this deserter story.
“How many years did the IGP spend as CP in Kano State before his appointment as IGP? Reward for 2m Kano votes.
“A police officer left the service seven yeras ago, and the IGP is just telling us that he is a deserter abi? Is Senator Misau still receiving salary as a Police officer?
“Is there any sense in the police claim that it just discovered that Senator Misau did not leave the police properly? And do you have to declare someone with policemen guarding him wanted?
“When is the police defending the allegation of fraud made by the Senator? Mr IGP, stop advertising the foolishness of your institution please.”
