The Benue State government has
told the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP that it does not have the capacity to
sack the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC from power.
The APC in Benue state reminded
the PDP that it was the people that enthroned the government of change and
reserve the right to vote it out.
The Chief Press Secretary to the
Benue State Governor, Terver Akase, said this when he addressed newsmen in
Makurdi, the state capital yesterday.
This came as a reaction to a
statements credited to the opposition party during its non-elective convention
at the Eagles Square, Abuja, during the weekend where leaders of the party were
quoted as saying that they will sack the ruling party at all levels come 2019.
Akase said, “It is only he who hires that fires. PDP did not hire APC. Nigerian voters did. So the statement credited to PDP that they will fire APC in 2019 only shows once more how they (PDP) despise and disregard the good people of this country who enthroned the change administration and reserve the exclusive right to decide the outcome of the 2019 polls.Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday
“The wide gulf/difference between APC and PDP is that the current governing party believes that power and legitimacy belong to the good people of this country and only the people can decide the fate of any administration.
“Nigerians need not be surprised to hear PDP speak in the manner that they are doing at the moment. For a party which had no respect for the feelings of the people, led with impunity, flagrant scorn of democratic principles and sidelined the rule of law, comments such as those attributed to leaders of the party should be expected.
“Lastly, I wish to ask the PDP; can an employee who was fired by his employer reappoint himself for the same office?”
