Trabzonspor midfielder, Ogenyi Onazi, has played down the absence of the pair of John Mikel Obi and Victor Moses ahead of Saturday's 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, insisting that the Super Eagles will not settle less for a victory against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa.
Mikel and Moses were left out of the squad for the game due to various reasons.
Mikel is still recuperating from the abdominal injury that has kept him out of action for eight weeks, while Moses will undergo a toe surgery in the coming weeks.
Onazi told newsmen here in Uyo that he was not under any pressure to lead the team out against South Africa, but focused on leading the team to victory on Saturday.
"I understand the fact that Victor Moses and Mikel Obi are not here, but as the stand-in skipper, my aim is to lead my teammates to victory on Saturday," Onazi told Completesportnigeria.com.
"I was there in 2014 when the team drew 2-2 against South Africa. That will not happen on Saturday."
