"President Buhari doesn’t deserve death wish"

Following information circulating in the social media that President Muhammadu Buhari has died, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress(APC), Hon Bamidele Faparusi , has warned Nigerians against conceiving evil intentions against their leaders.

Faparusi, a governorship aspirant and member of the seventh House of Representatives, said no nation can develop where citizens bear ill-feelings against their President, advising Nigerians to refrain from the tendency and learn how to treat their leaders with love, respect and dignity.

On the former Governor of Western Region, General Adeyinka Adebayo, who will be buried on Saturday, Faparusi called on Buhari’s government to name a national monument after the departed military man to remember his contributions to the country.

In a statement in Ado-Ekiti, on Wednesday, Faparusi said President Buhari doesn’t deserve death-wish from Nigerians considering the zeal and patriotism he had displayed in curbing the menace of corruption and insecurity that had crippled the country before he mounted the saddle.

Faparusi added that no state, with the exemption of Lagos that had reached an enviable height in internally generated revenue would have been able to operate effectively by now but for Buhari’s selfless and austere policy he introduced to bail the country out of recession.

He said: “No nation can progress where the citizens are bearing ill-feelings against their leaders. In actual fact, President Buhari has demonstrated sacrifices right from his days as a military Governor, Minister and later as president in leading the country.

“President Buhari believed that the country’s commonwealth shouldn’t be plundered by the privileged few and that accounted for why he won the 2015 presidential poll 30 years after he quitted the stage.

“I expect every Nigerian to be on their kneel no matter the political divides and inclinations and pray for this great Nigerian in this trying period, rather than wishing him dead or incapacitated.

“The pertinent questions to ask are, where would Nigeria starts if President Buhari dies? Would it go back to its worst days under Peoples Democratic Party(PDP)? Do the opposition PDP, who was the proponent of the death-wish has a man of unblemished records as a better alternative to lead Nigeria?”, he asked.

Faparusi lauded the contributions of General Adebayo to the country, saying he was one of the unifying factors that fought against secession for the nation to stand united and forge a common front

“I want to acknowledge with warm regards the contribution of Ekiti State which had immortalized General Adebayo by naming the Oke Ayoba Governor’s Lodge and General Hospital, Iyin Ekiti after him but this hero was not a sectional leader. He worked and died for Nigeria, so the federal government must complement what Ekiti has done in this regard,” he stated.

  1. Death wish is well deserved for a man who's a war criminal, committed genocide on Igbos, Christians and continue to kill them today using Boko haram, Fulani herdsmen and biased economic and political means. Hell awaits him.

  2. Death is a debt everyone owes and must pay. It's Gof who decides who dies and who lives. If people wish him death while in the eyes of God he deserve to live, he will definitely live. Conversely, if people wish him life while in the eyes of God he deserves to die, no amount of money can make him live. The most important thing is not whether he dies now or later but how he has lived his life, how he has used the positions and opportunities that God gave him which in turn guarantees him a place in heaven or hell. The same applies to everyone of us. For man is appointed to die but once and after that, judgement followes.
