Former Governor of Jigawa state, Sule Lamido has been taken to Dutse, the Jigawa state capital to face trial over his utterances.
This is as the Ahmed Makarfi-led Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called for his release.
It was gathered that heavily armed policemen from the Nigeria Police Force Zone 1, led by a senior officer, escorted the PDP chieftain on the one-hour journey to Dutse.
The convoy had left Kano for Dutse around 5.30am Tuesday morning.
Security has been heightened in Dutse as Lamido’s supporters are expected to demonstrate publicly.
Zone 1 Police Public Relation Officer, Sambo Dasuki, has confirmed Lamido’s movement to Dutse and trial to follow.
Lamido has reacted to his ordeal.
He said he’s being persecuted because of his presidential ambition in 2019.
The ex-foreign affairs Minister was detained in Kano on Sunday after honouring police invitation for alleged “inciting comments”.
