Lawyer to the leader of the
Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Emeka Ephraim Ugwuonye has been temporarily
banned from legal practice in Nigeria.
Ugwuonye recently joined the
legal team of Nnamdi Kanu.
The former United States-based
Nigerian lawyer, who was disbarred in New York and Maryland for professional
misconduct, was yesterday also disbarred in Nigeria, to which he had relocated,
for the same offense.
Ugwuonye’s sanction was ordered
by the Nigerian Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee, LPDC, of the Body
of Benchers, a unit which punishes misconduct among lawyers.
LPDC ordered Chief Registrar of
the Supreme Court of Nigeria to strike out Ugwuonye’s name.
J.S. Okutepa (SAN) who is the
Chief Prosecutor of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) at the LPDC found
Ugwuonye liable for fraud and promised to give details of the direction of LPDC
in due course.

Nigeria a country of no justice,God is watching.
ReplyDeleteGoing by your analogy, America is also a country of no justice since that is where he was first disbarred. Please try and get a brain, if a criminal is what your Kanu can get to defend him, the there is a question mark on this senseless agitation
DeleteCan't you reason without tribal sentiment. This same lawyer was disrobed in the US for a similar offence, as submitted here. Is USA also Nigeria. Be patriotic and stop this 'it's our own' attitude. What's bad is bad.
DeleteWell...well...chai there is God ooooo..there is God.
