"Nigerians should stop politicising Buhari’s health status"

The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria has condemned what it described as uncomplimentary remarks by some Nigerians on the health status of President Muhammadu Buhari, which it said was not only embarrassing but also ungodly.

The body also expressed displeasure that many Nigerians chose to make mockery of or politicise the President’s health status, rather than seek the intervention of God.

This was just as a group, the Organisation for Global Youth Peace Empowerment and Development Initiative, called on the Senate to formally address Nigerians on the state of health of the President.

In a statement by its South-West Secretary, Seriki Ayowale, the group noted that “the silence of the Nigerian Senate is uncalled for and dangerous for our nation’s democracy.”

But the National President of PFN, Dr. Felix Omobude, in a statement by his media aide, Deacon Ralph Okhiria, stated that “instead of playing God,” Nigerians should recognise that President Buhari was a human being, who needed sincere prayers to keep the ship of the nation afloat.

Omobude said, “Instead of playing God and making uncomplimentary remarks about the health status of the President, we should all take the issue up in prayers for God’s intervention.

“It is important that we should show some level of respect to the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, irrespective of the political party, religion or ethnic group we belong to.

“Although President Buhari belongs to a particular political party, he is not the President of that party but the President of the entire Nigeria. Therefore, we should all learn to wish our leaders well and not to wish them evil.”

The PFN president, however, commended the Federal Government for the recent release of 82 Chibok schoolgirls, describing it as heart-warming.
