The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has passed a vote of no confidence on its Chairman Comrade Abdullahi Adeka over his anti – union activities.
Spokesperson of the union Yusulf Iya who disclosed this to journalists on Friday after the union’s State Executive Council meeting, said the decision was a collective decision of the SEC.
He explained that, since leadership of the Adeka-led EXCOS came on board two years ago, it has not been able to get government to implement any of its resolutions.
He added that, the new Chairman of the union is Comrade Bala Umaru of the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU).
Similarly, the Organised Labour in the State has declared an indefinite strike in the state as a result of government’s refusal to implement several agreements reached with the union.
The Chairman of Trade Union Congress (TUC) Comrade Danladi Sabo Namo who disclosed this to newsmen, said the strike will take effect from Friday, May 12, if the government fails to listen to the voice of reasoning and retrace its footsteps.
“Since Governor Umaru Tanko Al-makura came on board in 2011, we have to receive any annual increment or promotion. Our salaries are been frequently owed “, he said.
Responding to his removal, the former Chairman of the Union, Abdullahi Adeka said the strike action will not hold as negotiation with government is still ongoing.
