To eliminate corruption will amount to eliminating the totality of the human race - Dogara

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has said that corruption cannot be totally wiped out.

In an interview with a popular media outfit, he pointed out that even in advanced nations of the world, the menace has not been fully eradicated.

“And the issue of corruption itself is not something that can be eliminated completely. What you can do is to reduce it to the barest minimum, to a level that is almost seen as non-existent.

“It’s not that corruption has been eliminated in the advanced countries we try so much to copy or speak glowingly of what they have been able to achieve.

“We have seen this hydra-headed monster called corruption rearing its head even in elections of certain jurisdictions. Clearly, the signs are there, but our collective effort is that we reduce it to the barest minimum.

“I lack the English word to describe anyone who thinks he would eliminate corruption. To eliminate it will amount to eliminating the totality of the human race. This is because no human being is clothed in perfection. All we can do is to reduce it to the barest minimum.

    1. The Bible says that the heart of a man is desperately wicked. Ponder on it, every human is potentially corrupt until given the opportunity to exhibit that inborn character, some may be able to suppress it while other may not. Some may have lived above it by the grace of God while others who did not would have to either suppress it or indulge in it depending on their self will.

  7. I am so sorry to use dirty words. This man is crazy and a devil in human cloth. How can a reasonable person be saying this publicly? He is mad and should be ashamed of himself. Were ma ni eleyi ke!!! While we are trying to rebuild the system, this man is saying this. I pity Mr. Buhari who is the president. He should leave presidency and let someone like Mr. Ribadu or someone else younger do it. But people like Tinubu would not support a good person like Mr. Ribadu because his hands aren't clean. You can imagine what this Dogara and his cohorts are doing secretly. Listen, corruption can be eradicated. Listen, I live abroad and most people I have worked with are never being corrupt. I have seen instances that they are tempted but when they think of the consequences of corruption or undue process, they changed their thinking. Nigeria is what it is because there's systemic corruption. When I was growing up, it's like there was no corruption. We weren't hearing or seeing what we now see in Nigeria. It's corruption in Nigeria that led to dramatic changes in the Country. Can you compare how houses were built in Nigeria in those days with what we now have? No burglary proof because people worked hard for their money and they felt safe. Now what do we have? Houses that look like prisons with no safety as such. Big burglary proof. And that's why they cannot be rescued when there's fire hazard. When you say something like this in advanced country, you lose your seat for being so irresponsible. Wow!!!

  9. Anonymous 8:57. If curruption is charestristic of humanbeings why wount all people in this earth indulged in curruption? ??. Or is it that only few possessed it. If your brother, sister, uncle father or mother doing it advice them to stop it, is an evil act which deprived people to have good roads, Hospital and good drinking water. Take note
