The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has sparked another uproar on social media.
The information minister was said to have reacted to the buzz CNN's Richard Quest started about who makes the best Jollof.
The battle for Jollof supremacy between Ghana and Nigeria have lasted for a long time, and the information minister has obviously broken the heart of many Nigerians by giving the 'Jollof trophy' to complete outsiders, Senegal.
According to Lai’s response to Quest, “Senegal makes the best jollof“.

What do you expect from someone who is pathologically unwell? His deficiency is incurable. What he's best at is to have his mouth open at the wrong time. And what follows? Lies, lies, lies and lies.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of the undoings of Nigerians: we enjoy living in denials and shying away from the truth! In fact,we should not complain when we get the leaders we create of our insincerity. You that crucify Lai Mohammed, have you been to Senegal before or tasted their jollof to be a judge? Do you know the history of jollof rice? Nigerians are unbelievable! Do you not know that jollof rice is a creation of a tribe called the Wollof in Senegal? Please, get educated. Moreover, you should try and leave the comfort of akpu and amala, travel and have a feel of other peoples culture, foods and social behaviour. Nigerians are very shallow minded and it reflects in everything we do. Lai Mohammed has a sophisticated taste bud and could tell the difference between "egbe na egbe" or capital B and the foot print of an elephant. Research before you criticize ,not blindly.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot, hour of liberation. One problem with Nigerian themselves is that they think patriotism is to blindly claim that yours is always right when you don't have evidence or yardsticks to prove. That is one of the reasons we are in this mess. We are always very sentimental. If Senegal jolof is the best, then let us give it to them. No sentiment or blind judgement and let us look at how we can improve on our own. That's all.
ReplyDeleteWonders shall never end. Today I have seen the answer to long unanswered adage that says " who says his mothers soup is not sweet" liar Mohamed says his mother's and wife's soup is not sweet
ReplyDeleteJollof rice was inspired by the Senegalese rice, which is actually steam-cooked. Apart from it being occasionally overspiced, Nigerian Jollof rice stands no chance of winning any competition against Senegalese steamed-cooked Wollof rice. Landlord travel and see.
