Adamu Muazu, former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), says he finds it difficult to believe that ex-President Goodluck Jonathan accuse him of conspiracy in the 2015 election.
In the book, ‘Against the Run of Play’, written by Segun Adeniyi, chairman of THISDAY editorial board, Jonathan alleged that Muazu worked against him in the election.
“I felt really betrayed by the result from some northern states. Perhaps for ethnic purposes, even security agents colluded with the opposition to come up with spurious results against me,” Jonathan said.
“What happened was very sad not for me as a person, but for our democracy. Take, for instance, the PDP national chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu. I believe he joined in the conspiracy against me. For reasons best known to him, he helped to sabotage the election in favour of the opposition.”
Reacting to the allegation in a post on his Facebook page on Thursday, Muazu expressed surprise that the former president could speak about him in such manner.
“Ordinarily, I would have ignored the allegation that I betrayed President Jonathan and my party, but doing so could create the impression that I really did,” he said.
“I find it difficult to believe that President Jonathan would level such allegation against me. How can one betray himself?
“As the then national chairman of the PDP, I have been at the forefront of the presidential campaign train. Those who are insinuating that I betrayed President Jonathan and my party are being economical with the truth.
“In the face of abuse, insult and open ridicule by our friends and brothers we supported President Jonathan faithfully.
“In all sincerity, I gave my best and all to my party. Those who blame us for not delivering maximum votes to the former president in the north seem to have forgotten that it is the people who vote.”

Muazu or what do you call yoursef, you totally betrayed him, whether you like it or not, all of you both Senate President(David Mark) SGF(Anyim pius)INEC chairman (Jega Atahiru) all his kitchen cabinet are all failures to humanity, believe it or not. And too is too gullible to understand handwriting on the wall. You people need to be in exile by this time including all the Ministers then.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous 5:45 U're a dunce just like Jonathan. Mu'azu, Mark and the others just have ONE vote each, they can ONLY campaign but NOT compel us to vote. Democracy is taking a new dimension and we have to make way for a NEW order, gone are the days of PDP rigging. Besides Jonathan has shown us the kind of President he was then, do you expect us to continue with BLIND followership? Please grow up and think right.
DeleteAnonymous 9:57pm. I guess your eyes has open now that you have a president who's running the affair of this great country from his bed room? Talking about rigging election. I guess you traveled to see evidence of kids in the North thumb printing ballot papers for APC. The only time Nigeria can boost of free and Fair election was MKO and Tofa presidential election which MKO won fairly. Outside that every other elections have been rigged and the rigging is still going on every now and then. In Aso Rock. National Assembly etc. So I urge you to take a chill pill if you don't have any reasonable argument.
DeleteWhat is the percentage of under-age voting? There is always the case of media propaganda and even down south, the population they claim at all times is fictitious and that was the reason INEC had to publish numbers of registered voters, those that collected their PVC's and so on before elections. If you can remember most states in South-South in 2011 voted 100% which is very very impossible but because your man was at the helm of affairs it was no offence. Regarding the health status of the President, anyone can fall sick or die at any time, remember age has nothing to do with sickness or death. So my fellow compatriot, the chill pill is yours to take. CIAO!
DeleteThe book should have been rightly titled "Against The Run of Settlement and Bribery" to show they deceived him into signing off billions guaranteeing his reelection
ReplyDeleteWell I think there no need for blame game from Jonathan. He was d fist to betray d people who gave u d opportunity to be president by allowing so much loothing to take place. Afterwards u expect d people not to betray u? That shows how really perceive Nigerians. On buharis health, no human being in earth will live forever so at some point one will die. But the difference is how u die. Let buhari consider first d effect of his being sick will cost Nigerians Id he truly loved dem. I think d pressures of the office od the president is too much for his age compared to if we have Peter obi as president which i think from what has shared about saving cost as governor of anambra am doo sure that he will do well as a president. Just my opinion.
ReplyDeleteI agree with u Anonymous. Really d book should Av been titled "Against The Run of Settlement And Bribery" selfish leaders who think of themselves alone but claimed 4 the country's interest. The best that Av happened 2 our democracy is 2015. Nigeria belongs 2 we all & not some mighty in the country. 2019 will b another improvement of our democracy where we will choose 4 ourselves leaders. If u ask me, I think the fed govt is on right track but some states are the problems. I see transparency @ d fed govt level.
ReplyDeleteLet's not forget that Jonathan lost the election in ASO Rock. Was he also betrayed there?
