About 15 communities in Orumba-South Local Government of Anambra State on Tuesday raised the alarm over the menace of herdsmen in their area.
They alleged that herdsmen were raping their wives and children.
The spokesperson for the communities, Mr Chukwudi Ugochukwu, stated this at Orumba-South Local Government Council secretariat in Umunze during a stakeholders’ meeting of the people of the area.
He added that the herdsmen allowed their cows to graze on farms, thereby destroying people’s livelihoods.
Ugochukwu said some women and girls had been raped on their way to their farms.
He said no fewer than 20 of such cases had being recorded, adding that he would not go beyond for fear of stigmatising the victims.
He said, “We live along the boundary with Imo State by Arondizuogu. All the farmlands there have been devastated by the herdsmen. Some of our women have been raped on the farmlands but they refused to talk so that they will not be stigmatised. The entire Umunze is under threat.”

I think it's about time the Buhari led Federal government put a stop to this madness. Every zone of this country have some bitter story to tell concerning the activities of the Fulani herdsmen in their area. It appears as if the Federal government is deaf and blind to this issue. Will the Federal governance respond when the whole resolve into war?
ReplyDeleteWhen una collect money from them to allow them to graze then una go want make them stop no be una find problem. Una never see anything self! Ask Agatu and other villages in Benue,Kogi and the north and you people will know how far. Una Problem be say una too like money and wealth and can do anything to get money. Integrity no longer matters and rich people are the gods una worship now. If the herdsmen wan they can take over the area self. It is a matter of going through few notable people who they will give enough money and they will be doing the ground work for them. That is why una case is terrible, hopeless and complicated.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you. I am from the South - South, greed for money and wealth is the bane of the entire South. You cannot eat your cake and have it. Imagine herdsmen all the way from the far north coming with boldness to make love or sleep with your wives and daughters in your own very domain and shamelessly you are crying out for help. In no time your wives and daughters will take in for them and your wives and daughters will claim they're yours - mix multitude of bastards. If you cannot defend your wives and daughters then you're an infidel. Someone among you have been paid for all the havoc and bad omen, until you rid yourselves of all infidels there won't be end to the Herdsmen atrocities
DeleteFrom all indication the federal government seems to have a hand in this fulani herdsmen madness. The herdsmen take the liberty to do whatever they like because they felt that they have immunity courtesy of Buhari. And it's true.I think it is time for every community to rise up in a brutal self defense since the FGN is adamant to their plight
ReplyDeleteAnd if any indigen attack a fulani man, That person will be arrested but now no fulani man has been arrested since they started their evil acts.
ReplyDeleteNigerians are not fool.
