Prof. Garba on Monday told the Senate ethics committee that Senator Dino Melaye graduated as Daniel Melaye in 2000 but the Sahara Reporters quoted the exam officer saying it did not fulfil his course requirements.

ReplyDeleteMr VC, go back & do a thorough authentication. The red chamber may reinvite you with the departmental examination officers for another round of questioning. Did the prestigious institution, within the period under reference, offer admission into a degree program with just three credit passes maximum? I doubt sir
ReplyDeleteAnd what makes u think that the VC did not consult with the departmental heads before going to the national assembly? Sahara reporter is a drowning man looking for something to hold onto! Why not mention the names of the examination officer who are not in agreement with the VC?
DeleteThe VC actually did the consultation with the University Senate and there was some sort of disagreement, hence, he had to appear before the Senate Committee. With the help of some inducement, i believe he had to appear. It's not in his purview to be the one defending this issue, rather, the HOD of the geography department or Dean of Academic.
DeleteThis is interesting. Can you believe exam officers have different position from that of VC? We have no integrity in that country. I would not be surprised if this guy did not graduate in the real sense. Where is his certificate? He said it has not been issued. Mr. Melaye said, he graduated in 1999 and the VC said it was in 2000. And the exam officers said he did not graduate because he failed some courses. How can one graduate without passing all the required and relevant courses? Truly he did not graduate. And if the VC insisted he did, then it is not legitimate. All records if genuine about any student(s) must be coherent. In this case they are not. This is part of the beauty of democracy. But it is a sad day for democracy as well. Which VC? VC whose ordinary university website is misleading.

ReplyDeleteProf Garba was not the VC in ABU during the period in question. Melaye's admission and graduation will appear to me as special waivers by the then authorities of the University. Why the waivers?????
DeleteA guess his NYSC has a special waiver too, since he claimed to have served a year earlier than his purported graduation.
DeleteThe senate and Melaye should stop fooling Nigerians, is the VC the person that would have been invited or the examinations officers cum registrar? Was this VC holding sway in the period this guy was in that university? The VC must have been greased with some cash, trust us.

ReplyDeleteIf did Dino need to graduate. It should be in 1997. Because he was a year ahead of me in school. And if he failed and have to repeat, it should be in 1998 that I graduated and go to NYSC either in 1998 or 1999.

AS A GRADUATE, DINO DID NOT KNOW THE DIFFERENT BETWEEN CERTIFICATE OBTAINED IN DEGREE, DIPLOMA AND SEMINARS.
Let Nigerian not be carried away by politics and deal with issues no to be consider as fool that every leaders think we are.
Please we need a way forward. If his overall boss did not go to the university and some other so called 'honourables are not University graduate, why waste Nigeria's previous time on this.
