Ambassadorial list: Buhari addressed grievances, no more complaints – APC

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), says the party does not expect further complaints over the new list of ambassadorial nominees.

APC National publicity secretary, Malam Bolaji Abdullahi, stated this yesterday.

“The list has been submitted to the National Assembly which will work on the screening of the nominees”, he told Daily Trust.

“It is completely within the purview of the National Assembly. It is not a party matter at this stage anymore”, he added.

On the possibility of fresh complaints on the issue, Abdullahi said, “As far as we know, the president has responded after the initial complaints. The matter has been resolved and it has been sent to the National Assembly.”

Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari submitted a new list of 46 persons to the Senate for consideration as non-career ambassadors.

Buhari’s letter dated January 11 was read during plenary by Senate President Bukola Saraki yesterday.

In the new list, Senator Olorunimbe Mamora (Lagos), Dr. Usman Bugaje (Katsina) and PauIine Tallen (Plateau) who were on the earlier list were replaced.

Senate earlier rejected a list of 47 non-career ambassadorial nominees sent by Buhari following complaints from various stakeholders.

The new list showed that Bauchi, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kwara, Lagos, Plateau, Sokoto and Zamfara states have two nominees each.

It was reported  that the seeming imbalance may generate controversy and protest from some States as Lagos is the only Southern state with two nominees.
