Arsenal have remained undefeated in all competitions since the opening day of the season 3-4 loss to Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium. As expected Arsene Wenger wants to win the league in what could be his last season at the club. Going by their sportsbetting lines of winning the trophy is +300
Almost a quarter of the season has gone and we take a look at how Arsenal has fared at this stage this season compared to last season. Arsene Wenger seems to have performed some miracles sort of at the club as his side look changed nad hare having it rosy at the moment. Or what could have be the reason for their sudden resurgence?
Presently on a run of 16 unbeaten matches the Gunners have fared better than last season at this stage. However, they are the least scorer in the top four of the Premier League table with 24 goals – seven of those goals were from set pieces - behind Liverpool (30), Chelsea (26) and Manchester City (25) respectively and have conceded 11 goals, the third highest in the top four.
Their recent biggest win was the 6-0 win at home against Lodogorets Razgrad in the Champions League and the 4-1 win away at Sunderland in the Premier League. They have had a shot accuracy of 48% and created 109 chances so far with an average possession percentage of 56. They have eight clean sheets in 17 games in all competitions.
Currently top of their Group A in the Champions League with 10 points from four matches, the same point they had last season at the end of the group stages and finished second behind Bayern Munich. Also flying high in the EFL competition, the Gunners are making it happen for themselves at the moment.
Wenger needs these two players to be fit ………..
Ozil and Sanchez (Arsenal.com) |
However, Wenger needs to keep these two players to be fit if he wants the league this season. While Theo Walcott new height in performance is a surprise to many if not many, we could only wish it last. Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil are very instrumental to Arsenal title winning bid the way Riyad Mahrez and N’Golo Kante were to Leicester City last season.
Sanchez has been impressive since been drafted into the striking role for the Gunners this season. The Chilean scores more regularly, coverts more chances and delivers more key passes than even the main striker Olivier Giroud. He has scored 8 goals and assisted another five in 15 games this season. He has the pace and movement that can destabilize defenders.
Mesut Ozil has highest assists of 19 in the entire domestic leagues in top European clubs last season but seems to have stepped up his game from just assisting and has added scoring too. He created over 100 chances for Arsenal last season. He netted 4 goals in the Champions League and assisted two, and 3 league goals and has one assist in this campaign.
He was accused of been lazy on the pitch but the Ozil we have seen so far this season could help deliver the trophy and he is ready to commit his future to the club by signing a new five year deal. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday
