Itse Sagay, professor of law and chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC), on Monday said Nigeria would have collapsed if Buhari had not intervened.
He said this after a presentation of the committee’s report on a new legal framework for fighting corruption.
“We know of some governors who are not supposed to be there, but found themselves on the bloody seats with the help of some judges,” he said.
“If Buhari had not come, I don’t think there would have been a country. Zimbabwe would have been better. The government is operating on a zero budget.
“We need the judiciary, but we need an upright judiciary. If we don’t have a judiciary with moral integrity, then we don’t have a democracy.
“No agency would have dared to arrest Oputa, Obaseki, Eso, and some others. They gave judgments against the military governments. The moral authority of the golden era of the supreme court has crashed.
“No judge should be guilty of corruption; if that happens then they have reduced themselves to our level, so they should take whatever happens. Let us be fair to this country.”
President Muhammadu Buhari set up the committee in August, 2015.
In the report, the committee recommended plea bargaining as an alternative means of settling corruption cases.

You are very wrong prof. Buhari is not God. Maybe that is how you rate him because you don de change suit now. Buhari has brought untold hardship. Are one of the cabal that hijack the government as explained by the wife.
ReplyDeleteCommon sense is not that common, or the prof has eaten the forbidden fruit. How can this man in his age and education make this statement
DeleteIt is terribly disappointing to hear such a horrible comment from a supposedly learned person like Prof.Itsay Sagay...It shows how the corruption of mind and characters are ranked far above economic corruption...It is unfortunate that such a respected element in the society could allow political sentiment to becloud his sense of judgement...Well,as events are unfolding...
ReplyDeleteSagay is an old hypocritic lunatic. So Baba is now God. OK now I understand by Baba's wife is lamenting that some cabal have hijacked power in Aso rock,
ReplyDeleteInfact this useless prof. Abi pof requires psychiatric examination just like drivers that beat traffic light are required to do by FRSC. This is because a so called prof that is advocating for non constitutional and autocratic method be applied in a democracy thereby endorsiñg the breaking of constitution and rule of law urgently requires psychiatric evaluation too.
Chanji dole!
Say Baba!

I think u're hailing buhari for fame or appointment sake.
ReplyDeletedis is d worst statement ever, hw could a leaened schooler says dis. It may b ok 4 u bt nt d same 4 millions of oda nigerians. I kn ur one of his aapointees
ReplyDeleteUseless Prof.Sagay is a goat who has no sense.
ReplyDeleteBlasphemy. Tufiakwa. So before Buhari, there was no Nigeria? bia Mr, cos calling you prof should be a misrepresentation, are you OK?
ReplyDeleteSame mumu wrote all these nonsense. We now the paymasters- PDP
ReplyDeleteThis man is a bundle of disappointment in recent times. He is hero worshipping.
ReplyDeleteYou guys are just interpreting what he said wrongly and literarily. If PDP had continued, this country would have collapsed. But with the emergence of Buhari, people are now returning money, canker worms of our ministries, dept and agencies are blown open and Nigerians can now see that we were really sitting on a keg of gun powder. so let us not crucify prof for saying the obvious. what he said does not in anyway mean that Buhari is God. what it means is that without the emergence of someone with moral uprightness like Buhari, impunity would have crashed this country. so lets not play holy here to crucify prof for saying what we all know.
ReplyDeleteOga remove ur shade from eye. This government have done more noise making than nation building.
