An angry mob in Lagos state on Monday almost lynched a man who allegedly bought two bags of rice with fake naira notes.
The unidentified owner of the shop, located at Abaranje, in the Ikotun area of the state, was said to have raised an alarm upon discovery that the notes were fake.
Luck ran out on the yet-to-be-named suspect, who was just a stone throw away from the shop.
While he was trying to quickly make his way out of the premises, the woman raised the alarm which attracted residents who beat the man to a pulp, hanging the two bags of rice on his neck.
It was learnt that he was handed over to the Ikotun Police Division.
