New Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, is ready to given Mikel John Obi a free role in the team’s attack.
The midfielder, who plays in front of the back four for Chelsea, rolled back the years at this year’s Olympic Games in Brazil, when he was given an attacking role by coach Samson Siasia.
Mikel Obi scored once and laid on four assists, as the Dream Team VI won bronze.
Rohr appears to have been very impressed with his displays at the Olympics and now wants him to replicate them for the Eagles.
“Mikel will play in an attacking position under the new coach, not the holding midfield role he plays for his club,” an official, who watched the team’s training behind closed doors on Thursday, told journalists.
