President Muhammadu Buhari says the Peoples Democratic Party which ruled Nigeria for 16 years, accomplished nothing.
Buhari said this while addressing journalists in Daura on Monday after attending Eid prayers, according to a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Garba Shehu.
He said, “I want Nigerians to realise that what this government inherited after 16 years of the PDP government was no savings, no infrastructure, no power, no rail, no road and no security.”
The President, however, argued that within a year, his government was able to crush Boko Haram.
He said he had intensified the war against corruption as those who diverted public funds had started returning the money.
The President further maintained that his war against corruption was not one-sided.
Buhari said, “Nigerians can see what we have done on Boko Haram and what we are doing to resolve the problem in the Niger Delta. Before the elections, we identified three major problems confronting our country.
“The first is security; we need to sufficiently secure our country to manage it well. The second is economy, especially job for the youths and fighting corruption which is continuous.
‘‘For the youths, graduates and non-graduates who are interested in agriculture, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture in collaboration with the CBN are doing something to provide employment for them.”
The President thanked Nigerians for supporting the Federal Government’s policies, programmes and actions aimed at improving security, revamping the economy and combating corruption.
‘‘We should thank God this year, the reports I’m getting, which is very pleasing, is that we will have a bumper harvest this year.

I can tolerate a clueless & vision less President but not a lying President. If there was nothing on ground, why d clamour for power? I pity Obasanjo who supported u

DeleteYou fools are the one confused. STOP believing everything Nigeria eye writes
ReplyDeleteBaba Nigerians are not dafts. You are just adding insults into injury. It is a sad and shameful for elders to be telling childish lies. So the railway you commissioned few months ago you used the money you realised from the sake of your cattle's in Daura to do it kwo! Less than two years into your administration and most Nigerians could not afford Sallah Ram and rice and you are telling us story Baba. E no Good Baba! ALLAH.
ReplyDeletePDP went there to steal, and they accomplished that very handedly.
ReplyDeleteHmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
ReplyDeleteI just pray we are wiser come 2019. That no one Will feed us cock n bull and we will swollow it. This is d height of it. We must certainly be blind to see that in 16 years PDP did nothing but we had things moving. Now in ONE year you have been in office claiming to be working, we're dying. Keep it up sir. Keep up the good work of ensuring your party is booted out come 2019.
Thank God for bringing Buhari. Nigeria would have been destroyed completely with share money. Buhari will not share money.
ReplyDeletePeople work for money, no corruption.
Now that they work for money, what is the outcome. Nigerians are not lazy, we work hard. I don't reside at the moment in Nigeria but I have been there all my life.
DeleteBuhari should lay down good policies and the economy will bounce back again.
The economy went into recession because of the president's unguided statementso that have scared so many investors out of the country.
Dump man.... U said, work for money, where is the work now? Except you are arm robber or thief... U see business working in this your father's regime? Mumu!
DeleteThank you my brother (Anonymous 8:14am)
DeleteBuhari has ran this country down with his mouth at the inception of dis govt... Talking as if only him is Saint in Nigeria... He has forgotten dat foreign business partners are not coming to do business with him..... He is struggling to run the govt...
He should better pack, he is not able to rule the Nigeria govt.
No, Buhari will not share money, he will only share the suffering and non Muslims and southerners will get the lion share!
Delete"The President further maintained that his war against corruption was not one-sided."
ReplyDeleteWhich SIDE does Buratai belong?
Buhari should stop listening to unvisionary APC chieftain. You need to change those weak governors as minister.Stop giving minister for party members who are incompetent & unqualified.Let qualified Nigerians applied for those position.PDP started Power project etc
ReplyDeleteI don't believe that our president made this comments. He met nothing on ground when he took over,no money, no rails, no infrastructures, no light. Hm. Nawaoo.
ReplyDeleteWhy on earth a Nigerians is still appreciating Buhari 's emergence today? You are saying the nation would have been destroyed if not for Buhari 's emergence. It seems as if a part of your brain has been removed by Mr Lai and replaced with his propaganda thereby blocking your normal and proper reasoning. It is a pity!
ReplyDelete16 years of the pdp did nothing. and you are there making comments on online platform. can you do that in 1998? I guess you have a good handset. something you previously saw in american films that made you look at the whites as super humans. you now have access to mobile phone. internet services. etc .
The truth is that I don't blame the president because he is trying his best. but his best is not good enough. He inherited the biggest economy in africa and within one year his best effort sent the economy into recession. Even his minister agree that the economy is in the worst condition in our history.
There is a saying, "give a big man a small company and he makes it big but give a small minded man a big company and he makes it small ". That is what is happening to us. Buhari has no capacity to handle a country as Nigeria.

This our president is an obsolete headed why will he come out and say they never did anything for 16yrs why he is not addressing fools I think
ReplyDeleteAt least Jonathan left a truly independent and functional INEC that conducted a conclusive election that brought you to power. The story is different today. What we now have here and there is inconclusive election by the INEC you constituted. Also Jonathan left a secured market system where companies did not close down and jobs were sustained. But today, companies have folded up and millions of people have lost their jobs
ReplyDeleteNoted. One and half years gone. Hope the story will not be the same at the end of four years. "Governments doing nothing during their tenure "
ReplyDeleteIt's time to get something done.
Rubbish, nonsense and clueless indeed. Lies will never depart the household lazy and vision less people, because all the ineptitute are faulted on another person. If Nigeria had no saving, how were you able to fund your incessant foreign trips? If no infrastructure, how were you able transit into power, and what infrastructure were the various sectors of the economy sustained to be the No. 1 in Africa before your assumption of office? If no power, how come the economy was booming before you I assumed office? If no road, how are Nigerians able to do interstate businesses and travel across the country? If no security, then how were you voted into power with a credible election? Whose handiwork was the railway project that was recently commissioned by your adminstration?
ReplyDeleteNigerians have seen the distinction between PDP and APC. PDP within 16 years made Nigeria the one most prosperous economy in the world and No.1 in Africa; made Dangote the richest man in Africa and amongst top richest in the world. However, just in less than 1yr, APC has mismanaged and led Nigeria in the wilderness of starvation and nothingness; our economy has dead, infrastructure have witness unprecedented decay, our education system is crippled and is unstainable.
In the face of these ordeal, APC still tells lies and believe Nigerians to be cowed. APC is a shame to Nigeria; every promise made was cancelled and denied.
I am not surprised that he made this statement to Almajiris who went to get their sallah ram from him at Daura. What would you expect?
ReplyDeleteMr President please leave these excuses and face building the nation you tried FOUR times to lead and now succeeded. He who runs and looks backwards will surely stumble or fall flat. Japan, Poland, Germany etc were all practically destroyed by war. They have all been rebuilt into great nations without looking back to blame Hitler for their woes. American economy was in a bad shape, Obama arrived on the scene and fixed it. They are back on their feet without publicly blaming the Republicans every day. APC/BUHARI, you won the election a year and five months ago, you are still in the blame game. The only projects you have commissioned are those started by Jonathan. This attitude can never move a nation forward!
ReplyDeleteMr president go tell that to the marines. If Jonathan was clueless, Buhari is a complete dunce! QED.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I do not think PDP did anything particularly spectacular or remarkable. PDP failed us. The telephony (GSM) inaugurated during Obasanjo's time was long overdue for any serious nation to deploy. If NITEL had launched the first GSM by FG efforts, yes, I would praise PDP to the heavens. Mind you, Abacha had finished the leg work for wireless telephony (First Telecoms or so), only that his unsurpassed greed to own everything derailed it. To me, licensing international players to come and take up business opportunities is not entirely worth applauding. In terms of other infrastructural developments, we could have done better from within with a never-before sale of crude oil for near USD150 per barrel. Any responsible government would have risen even from the worst economic conditions. Yet, we were importing even the air we breathe. Nigeria produces most of the tomato in Africa, yet we imported to the tune of billion dollars annually! The railway you all are mentioning was bankrolled by China NEXIM bank in spite of the monies we were making from oil. It was indeed delayed because of an oil block concession agreement which did not go down well with China. Yet, we were better positioned to go it alone. We were running a rentier government, which only time would have revealed our true state at a time like this when oil price has nosedived. What I guess Buhari was saying is that the conditions of today in terms of self-sustenance is even worse than if there had not been a government, because nothing commensurate with the revenue earned was put in place for growth and development, especially with an ever-growing population.
ReplyDeleteMy grouse against Buhari, however is that his human rights record is dismal so far, notably when it is evident that only his perceived enemies are hounded. Buratai and his likes should be made specimens of rule of law as enshrined in our military handed down "constitution."
