Kumuyi made the call on Thursday in Calabar at a news conference to herald One Day Crusade organized by the Church in the Cross River capital.
He said that neither of the two religions advocate killing of any person, adding that both Christians and Muslims derive their faith from the same source.
“Basically, we are like having the same grandfather. So, we should have a rethink and live together and understand that every religion is very important to people who practice it,’’ he said.
Kumuyi, who expressed regret with the current economic recession in Nigeria, said that the country would overcome it with prayers.
“When there is the will, there is a way. God is still on the throne, with time things will get better, ‘’ he said. Whereas I agree greatly with Pastor Kumuyi's call to Christians and Muslims to live peacefully with each other, I strongly disagree with him on the following:1. That the two religions derived their faith from the same source. This is not true. Christians derive their faith from the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ. Muslims derive their faith from teachings of Prophet Muhammed. No where it is written in the bible that a prophet shall be sent to the world out of the descendants of Ishmael. Prophet Muhammed came about 580 years after Jesus had ascended to heaven and all the books of the bible had been written. So the source of Prophet Muhammed teachings is totally different from that of Christians. 2. I also disagree with Pastor kumuyi in the choice of the place where he made calls to adherents of the two religions to live peacefully with each other. Calabar is dominated by Christians. The state is peaceful. Kumuyi should have better made such calls in the north befor governor elrufai that once insulted Jesus Christ.And before Muslim fundamentalists in the north
