Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has pleaded with Nigerians to be patient with the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, adding that the economic hardship will soon be over.
He said this on Monday shortly after performing the eid prayers at the Lantoro Muslim prayer ground, Abeokuta.
Amosun said the country was already on the right track to recovery, arguing that it would be a Herculean task to correct what had gone wrong for many years.
He said, “I urge them (Nigerians) to continue with their support for the government and I know that Nigeria will be better for all of us at the end of the day.
“My message to Nigerians is that we are on the right track. We do not expect that things that had been bad for years will just be normalised in one or two years. No. Even four years is not enough. Eight years is not even enough to fix the rot in government. That is why whatever you do within two terms; let other fresh hands come in.
“With where we have found ourselves, with where we are coming from, it appears things are very tough now. It’s like we are almost getting to the corner now; but once we just take the bend, we are going to be on the right path and we will all get there.”
Amosun said he believed that tough times would bring the best out of the people, adding that that was why “all of us are thinking out of the box. We know that money is hard to come by these days and that is why we have to work very hard.”
Speaking on the forthcoming local government election in the state, Amosun expressed optimism that the winners would work for the benefit of the people of the state and not for the benefit of the party.
He said the election slated for Saturday October 8, would be violence-free. Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

We have heard your plea that we should be patient with PMB. Good one. But on the other hand, you should also help us plead with school fees, electricity bills and commodity prices to be patient with us too. NON SENSE!These political leaders open mouth and talk rubbish. Yes I will be patient with PMB provided school fees, electricity bills and prices of commodity are patient with me.
