Moses, Mikel, Iheanacho in starting eleven against Tanzania

Chelsea midfielder Mikel Obi will lead a star-studded starting XI that also has Kelechi Iheanacho, Victor Moses, Ahmed Musa and Odion Ighalo as Nigeria go for goals against Tanzania today.

This afternoon’s AFCON qualifier in Uyo is a dead rubber but new coach Gernot Rohr hopes to use it to prepare for next month’s World Cup qualifier in Zambia.

Right fullback Musa Mohammed will make his official Super Eagles debut after he played in two friendlies for the team against Mali and Luxembourg in May.

Rio Olympics star William Troost-Ekong will try to build an understanding in the middle of the defence with Germany-based Leon Balogun.

Israel-based midfielder Nosa Igiebor has staged a return to the Eagles after he missed the cut for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and he will start from the bench.

Kano Pillars central defender Jamiu Alimi and FC IfeanyiUbah goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa are the only players from the domestic league on the match day squad and they will both start from the bench.

Those who did not make the squad are Rio Olympics stars Imoh Ezekiel and Emmanuel Daniel as well as Kingsley Madu, Chiedozie Awaziem
