The Government of Ghana has announced a 12.5% increase in salary of all public sector workers across the country.
According to the employment minister, Haruna Iddrisu, the decision was arrived at after a public sector joint negotiation committee meeting Tuesday, September 13.
He also reiterated that the increment would take effect in January 2017.
“I am happy to inform you that conclusively government together with its social partners namely Minister of Finance, leaders of Public Sector Workers Union, the Ghana Prisons Service, and the Ghana Police Service have concluded negotiation on base pay increases up to 12.5%,” he said.
The Ghanaian government last week announced a 10% increase in the daily minimum wage of workers in Ghana.
