As part of efforts to fight unemployment among educated youths, the Federal government is to expend N2 billion on Graduate Internship Scheme (GIS) before the end of the year.
GIS Project Director Dennis Chukwu broke the news yesterday in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, during a career development and entrepreneurship skills training for interns.
Chukwu revealed that the scheme, being funded by the Federal Ministry of Finance, is training about 2,000 graduate interns across the country on skills and career development aimed at making them employers of labour, rather than being job seekers.
According to him, President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration decided to sustain the scheme initiated by the his predecessor, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, owing to his desire to banish unemployment ravaging the potentials of graduates by exposing them to trainings and opportunities in every sector of the economy. ReplyDeleteJob creation all the time lol, this obnoxious politicians seems to be taking the masses for a ride, but surely one day the keg of gun powder they are seating on will explode. They keep lying before and after elections instead of even looking for ways to alleviate the suffering of the masses the lies keep flying out of their mouth na wah o.
ReplyDeleteThe problem is not training the the youths. There are thousands if not millions graduating each year from universities, colleges of education and polytechnic. The problem is creating jobs. The government needs to come with a plan to create jobs. If you train first Ishmael, where you see the job.
