Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, has kicked against the postponement of the state governorship election for two weeks or more.
Oshiomhole said the election could be postponed for one week because of the planned coronation of the Oba of Benin slated for September 26.
Speaking on a television programme on Thursday, the governor said the Oba’s coronation is a big event in Edo State.
He said, “We have a big event in Edo on September 26 which is the Oba’s coronation. Before that day, there are other events that must be done. It will not be proper to hold election during that period.
“Why not postpone the election for one week?”
On whether the All Progress Congress (APC) was afraid of defeat, Oshiomhole said the APC defeated the PDP in 16 local government areas in the last election held in the state.
He said his party was ready for the election, adding that Edo is not a war zone.
He added: “We will win the election. The PDP has no credibility in this state.” Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

May good save this country from the hands of this selfish incompetent clueless wicked sadists. This points to the direction that this country need restructuring urgently.
ReplyDeleteApc Go finish this country! So for coronation them go shift election. APC na one chance people.
ReplyDelete@Uba, It's obvious you cannot read and comprehend resulting in the above pointless post. The Governor has given a very valid point and requested for the election to take place before the planned date to give room for the several sacred event lined up towards the coronation of the Oba and you are here spelling rubbish because you state have totally lost his cultural heritage and you want same in Edo state.
ReplyDeleteThe election should be before or after the coronation to prevent the obvious and subsequent date change.
The coronation of the Oba is much more important than the election. If the election is that important, I see no reason for the postponement by INEC.
