Buhari didn't meet an empty treasury, he inherited $30 billion from Jonathan - Obasanjo

Former president of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has faulted incumbent President Buhari for claiming he received nothing from the previous administrations.

In an Interview with Frisky Larr, Obasanjo said, “When I assumed office in 1999, I inherited $3.7 billion in reserve, while Buhari met $30 billion, almost 10 times of what I met then, and the price of oil then was $9. When it got to $20, I was dancing.

“I know the price is down now and with time, it will jump up again. What Buhari is doing currently is preparing ground for Nigeria to take advantage when it goes up again,” he maintained.

Several media reports had previously quoted President Buhari saying he inherited an empty treasury.

On the side of truth, how did he use an empty accnt to pay all federal government workers, service the presidential jets, renovate the aso rock in the same month he assumed office...with an empty account, it is either Buhari think Nigerians have lost their mind or him(buhari) has lost his mind

    3. Obasanjo is a neutral person, he must be saying the truth. He is neither in PDP nor APC.... And he is in the position to know the truth.

  3. When an elderly man like buhari starts lying on national television, you have to realise that Nigeria is very unsafe. Also when a new tenant moves into a flat vacated by another tenant and falsely claims that the water heater is not there, it means he has appropriated it. I hope this is the case about the 30 billion. Hmmmmm. Change indeed.

  4. Is lying a form of kwaruption?
Is plagerism a form of kwaruption?
Therefore, change should begin with who?
How was the amount it seems they are now claiming they did not inherit spent?
Perhaps, Gorilla Oshio should know something about because he is the champion of governors fighting for money to share during the last administration. With their man there your guess is as good as mine.
I foresse a lot of probe coming in Nigeria.

  8. I'm still wondering if Buhari will allow INEC conduct election come 2019. Cos for me I am sick and fed up with Buhari. If after months in office he's still lying and complaining about the past administration. I wonder when he will start working for the country. I'm just waiting for election so he can be sent back to Daura to continue with his farming. Lying old baba go slow.

  13. Buhari has a knack for always trying to drive home his hatred for his predecessor with superlatives, with the result of inadvertently exposing his leadership weaknesses. Too much bile against another invariably turns back at you. Buhari's change should start from offloading his loathsomeness against Jonathan. It blinds his decision-making faculties.

  14. Hmmmm. How much did GEJ inherit from Yaradua? Your guess is as good as mine with $30b in Diezani private account, $15b Dasuki gate, $15m in Patience Jona account and the list is endless.
