Nigeria’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Barrister Solomon Dalung, has said preparations have begun towards the next Olympic Games, which will be staged in Tokyo, Japan in 2010.
Dalung made this known via his official Facebook age, where he expressed concerns over the country’s performance at the ongoing Olympics in Rio, Brazil.
He said: “We have started preparations for Tokyo 2020 already, I am concerned about our present performance across all the federations which has explained how poor we have done in the past 3 years before I came in as a minister.
“I am barely 9 months in office and preparation of 4 years event couldn’t had been made in such a space of time.
“I have asked presidents of the various federations to submit their plans for Tokyo 2020 Olympics even before we left to Rio Olympics.”
Team Nigeria is yet to win a single medal at the 2016 Olympics.

As clueless as his employer...After abysmal failure in the preparations for the current tournament, thereby subjecting our representatives to undeserved hardship, the babboon now shifts his attention to 2020,...as if he will remain the Minister forever...Well,as events are unfolding...
ReplyDeleteI beg where is the money released for Olympics preparation 17 days before the games began? I laugh. I hope we can actually prepare early enough so that we can encourage our athletes who have been switching allegiance because of our leaders' insensitivity to good governance and proper administration.
