The police officer was attached to Udenu police division of the Enugu state police command
According to Vanguard, the female police sergeant who is a widow had gone to Adani in company of other people with a private Mitsubushi Space wagon car to procure locally processed Adani rice only to be abducted along Nkpunato, Hilltop primary school, Nkpologwu while returning back to her division after the local shopping at Adani.
The female police sergeant identified simply as Lare Areh was abducted when the vehicle allegedly developed mechanical fault along Nkpologwu while attempts to manually put it in other to continue the journey, the kidnappers emerged from the bush, pulled out guns and machets and ordered the four occupants of the vehicle to lie face down after firing gun shots into the air then dragged the female police sergeant into the bush around 6pm while others scampered into nearby village for safety.
