Arsenal have completed the signing of Lucas Pérez from Deportivo La Coruña after activating his €20million (£17.1million) buyout clause.
The 27-year-old has signed a long-term deal with the club.
Arsene Wenger passed up the chance to sign Lucas earlier this summer, preferring to focus on other targets, but has returned to the Spaniard after other deals failed to materialise.
Lucas, who grew up a Deportivo fan, scored 17 goals in La Liga last season and can play either as a central striker or coming in from the left wing.
A delighted Arsène Wenger said: “He’s not only a goalscorer, he’s a guy who combines well with partners, who can give a final ball and makes good runs.
"He’s got a good eye for goal and had an outstanding season last year.”
While Lucas may need time to adapt to the Premier League, the former PAOK forward does speak English and the Gunners already have a considerable Spanish-speaking contingent in the squad.
