Nigerians have realised electing APC was a costly mistake - Usman

Chieftain of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and one of the aspirants for the position of the National Publicity Secretary, NPS, in the party’s botched National Convention, held in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State, last Wednesday, Barr. Kabir Usman, has carpeted President Muhammadu Buhari and his party the All Progressives Congress, saying they have failed in all aspects of managing the country’s economy and that Nigerians have realised that electing the APC in 2015 was a costly mistake.

Usman in a statement, yesterday, said since assuming the reins of power, President Buhari and his party, the APC have not only failed to meet their various campaign promises, but have also crippled Nigeria, that many have come to see it as least economically viable since 1999. The statement read: “Since assuming the reins of power, President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressive Congress have not only failed to meet their various campaign promises, but are also presiding over a Nigeria that many have come to see as least economically viable since 1999.

“Looking at poverty, unemployment, inequality, insecurity, inflation, decay in infrastructures, suffocating symptoms of underdevelopment, judicial rascality, electoral inadequacies, market failure, among others, it appears Nigerians are in for worst situations with President Buhari and his APC led administration.

“The inflation rate rose from 8% in May 2015 to 16.50% in June 2016, as reflected in the high cost of goods and services. Unemployment rate that has risen to a whopping 12.8%. “Nigeria only few days ago lost her place as the biggest economy in Africa to South Africa due to poor leadership on the part of Mr President and his team. Even the early euphoria that greeted Buhari’s coming has turned sour in the mouth of all Nigerians. “Insecurity situation has gone from bad to worse, with Boko Haram transmuting to herdsmen terrorizing peaceful Nigerians in Benue, Kogi, Kaduna and some other states in the south. “Indeed, this is the most trying period for our country and it’s citizens. The President has hugely disappointed everyone, the only thing left for him is to desist from continuing blame of the past administration, identify technocrats that can help him salvage a saggiing economy, and save the country from further shame. “My heartfelt sympathy is with Nigerians that are further put into misery by this administration. Everybody is aware of the reality that since the inception of the APC Government every elections has ended inconclusive. From Kogi state Assembly and Senate elections to Bayelsa state gubernatorial election which was like war, so many innocent lives were lost, Abuja Area Council elections also exposed the unpreparedness and unreadiness of the APC and Buhari administration.

Now we are hearing that APC supporters are being recruited as Adhoc staff ahead of the Edo Gubernatorial election. “War against corruption is selective. We have a situation where petitions against some people within Buhari administration have not been investigatedby the EFCC. War against corruption is a very good one and a welcome development in Nigeria but it must be holistic and all inclusive and it must be within the ambit of our laws and fundamental human rights. “The situation where people are condemned even before trials by the court of law is questionable and amounts to arbitrariness and impunity.”

“PDP has learned from its shortcomings and Nigerians from all walks of life can attest to the fact that the decision to elect Buhari and the APC in 2015 was a costly mistake. “There is a limit to what propaganda, mischief and deceit can accomplish. Therefore, the President and his team must brace up for leadership challenges instead of their usual name calling and blame game,” the statement added.

  2. Unrepentant Nigerians, myopic and brainwashed by APC. When are we going to stop this blaming game. Since the inseption of this people in power its either Mr A is blamed or Party B is blamed. Its obvious to Nigerians that APC warent prepared for governance and lack the technical capacity to fullfil any of their promise. To call a spade a spade, APC failed the people, and the people don't care who was there before but who is here now

    1. Do you know that:
😀Obasanjo's administration earned #17trn from crude oil sales within eight years and left behind 45bn dollars external reserves and 3.348bn dollars external debt.
😀Yaradua grew the reserves to 64bn dollars within just one year and the administration was able to finance 15 months of imports despite the 2008/2009 world economic meltdown. Hence, Nigeria survived the melt down because of the political will by the administration to save(a great achievement by Yaradua which most Nigerians are not aware of). Despite the tough economic reality at that time, Yaradua left 47.7bn dollars in reserves and an external debt of 3.94bn dollars. Meanwhile, the administration earned only #9trn from crude oil sales within that short period.
😀Now, Jonathan administration witnessed an oil boom when Brent crude sold for over 100 dollars/barrel, with the regime earning #51trn within a period of 5years. But because of corruption, the administration did not only squander the oil revenue but even depleted the reserves left by Yaradua, leaving just 32bn dollars and a huge external debt of 63bn dollars for Buhari. The same Brent crude sold for as low as 35 dollars/barrel at a point shortly after Buhari took over power and had only managed to climb to about 48 dollars just recently.
😀These are facts that can be verified. So, it's amazing hearing people criticize Buhari for the hunger in the land.
😀According to Fashola, Buhari's administration inherited 206 uncompleted road projects and contract arrears worth #2.1trn from Jonathan; and for about 2 to 3 years the contractors where not paid. This slowed down the economic activities, with most of the companies laying off their staff. This was when the seed of recession was sowed.
👆It's obvious that Buhari came in to rescue Nigeria, because if Jonathan had continued in power, the nation's economic crisis would have been worse, perhaps even the Federal government wouldn't have been able to pay salaries of civil servants by now.
😀According to Okonjo Iweala, Nigeria started borrowing money to pay salaries since October, 2014; but today Nigeria now borrow money for investment in capital projects.
😀Those who blame Buhari for the current hardship do so either out of mischief (hatred) or ignorance. So, we shouldn't join the bandwagon in criticising him. He may not have done much to save the situation, considering that he is not a perfect human being but he means well for the country and can only succeed with our prayers.
😀May Allah continue to guide Baba Buhari.
😀Why not share this piece with others for the sake of enlightenment.

They used lies deceit black mail and all sort of fraud and tricks to get to power and here we are now. They also thing that the same method will sustain them in power. Nigerians are dying of APC induced kworshiokor hardship and hopelessness and this idiotic moron petty ethnic jingoist and religious bigot is talking nonsense. 2. Akwuya! If the job is too much for them they should resign. Nobody begged anybody to be Governor or President. They were elected to improve what they met on ground not for them to be acting like children. Other regime also met some challenges too. We should forget about this reckless throwing up of figures just to give excuse. It has now became a norm in this admin. The question is what are they doing and intend to achieve . Hunger and hardship does not know party or big grammer. The other day few hours after taking over we were told that the former Inspector General did not account for many vehicles. It turned out to be a hoax. Enough of this deceit and seeking for cheap synpaty by lies and half truth. If the taste is too much APC and its people should throw in the towel. Ci kena!
