Nigeria should focus on fighting Avengers first before fighting Boko Haram – Abdullahi

Ex-Adviser on Food Security to President Olusegun Obasanjo, Prof Ango Abdullahi, yesterday, called on the Federal Government to fight the Niger Delta Avengers before taking on Boko Haram.

Abdullahi, who also blamed politicians for political instability in the country, said the greatest challenge to national security was activities of the Avengers. He made this known during a book launch, titled: “The life and times of Umaru Turakin Bauchi at 2015 and Boko Haram: The charade versus the reality at 2016” in Abuja.

He said: “If we find truly that we cannot peacefully develop this country, the solution is to go our separate ways, why not?

“Even now, we are not happy with the kind of standard of security that is being applied in the country. If you are not going to fight Avengers, you should stop fighting Boko Haram.”

While blaming politicians for the country’s woes, Abdullahi said: “Any government that fails to ensure the well being of its people has the least legitimacy, it is not worth being a government. “Nigeria has not made the kind of progress that was expected of it since its independence after 56 years.

We must take into account that we are responsible for these. “Nigeria has signed so many protocols that are injurious to her, there is need to review some of these protocols.” In her remarks, Dr. Hadiza Wada, who is the author of the books, said there was need for the Federal Government to do more research on Boko Haram crisis.

“Our intelligence needs to concentrate on our neighboring countries, that is where our support should be coming from,” she said.

  1. Mllam Ango Abdullahi, you are very correct.
If we find truly we cannot peacefully develop this country, the solution is to go our separate ways, good talk.
Niger deltans or Ibos thinks Hausas or Yorubas are their problems.
I am sure when the did is done eyes will be open. And those who crave for separation will unfortunately not live to see the repercussion of their evil thoughts. There are so many country of the world that has no oil yet they live.
One thing for sure nobody comes to live in this world forever. I thank God for that.

  7. Because Boko Haram poses no existential threat to the Hausa/Fulani financial resources. You this quota system prof who could not even manage ABU for 3 months without riots and killings. As OBJ's adviser, what adopted solutions did you proffer?

  9. Very interesting. I wonder what would have become of the northeast if the activities of the Boko Haram sect had been left unchecked all this while. Sir am very certain you would have been abroad making this speech. Be grateful the government has done it's best to put the matter in check.

And to the NDA for your information there is no Nigeria Delta region anywhere else in the world. We only have ONE and that's the one you're destroying. After you're done where too?

Any form of attack be it the terrorist attacks by Boko haram or the militant style of the NDA are all criminal and we should be honest enough to say that much.

  10. the FG don't have to fight the Avengers since they are freedom fighters and to the best of my knowledge, they have not kill anybody. the best approach is to give back to them what belong to them. but the Boko Haram are seeking for a caliphate to enforce Sharia. so if the people of the North are in support of the Boko boys, they its their buzness

  11. What on earth is the connection between Boko Haram and averagers? Must every problem in Nigeria be viewed from the narrow purview of North and South? For someone with Ango Abdullahi's knowledge and exposure to make this kind of statement speaks volumes of the kind of skewed and bigoted intellectuals we have in the leadership of Nigeria. God save our country!
