Former president Goodluck Jonathan has denied having anything to do with the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA).
Jonathan spoke through a statement on August 7 by his media aide, Ikechukwu Eze.
He said: “For the avoidance of doubt, we are fully convinced that such an idiotic claim is too cheap a narrative, a facile contrivance so badly concocted that any discerning mind would easily see through its disingenuous and duplicitous nature.”
He said the names of those listed as alleged sponsors and supporters of NDA suggested a political agenda.
“Since it is not in our place to speak for all those named in the obvious fabrication, we are only intervening to the extent that its hidden intent poses a violent threat to the life of former President Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR, a committed patriot who the Almighty God has given the grace and good health to rededicate his life to the service of humanity, after serving his dear nation as President to the best of his abilities.
“We are also not bothered by this baseless accusation, contented that we are not the only ones conversant with Jonathan’s widely-acknowledged sincere disposition to peace, non-violence and better human community.
“We are however seized by the feeling of déjà vu occasioned by the resurrection of one dim character masquerading as ‘Cynthia White’, who had in the past served as the spokesperson for a notorious group that had all along shown its hand to be going after the life of Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
“Nigerians could recall that in 2007 when Jonathan emerged as the running mate to the late President Umar’ Yar’Adua in the People’s Democratic Party during that year’s presidential election, this very group invaded Yenagoa with hundreds of militants in an effort to assassinate him.
“Jonathan was only saved then by the spirited efforts of the combined forces of determined security men, who gallantly repelled the attack.” Click to signup for FREE news updates, latest information and hottest gists everyday

Nothing is impossible in Nigeria. Jona, for having kept quiet since the Avengers started their nefarious act, you are a suspect.
ReplyDeleteThis guy u just made senseless comments
DeleteIf Jonathan is a suspect in NDA. Buhari is a suspect in boko haram. Boko haram even went further to name him as a representative for negotiations with government then. Please let us be careful. The man the stopped blood letting should not be dragged to the mud because of political difference. Who is MEND, Henry Okah Abi. I leave you to judge your self.
Deletea man dat gently and peaceful handover power i see no reason disturbing dis peaceful man. I know some grp of apc r luking 4 excuse for failing redeem dere promise.even nigeria loss to germany is pointed at jonathan
ReplyDeleteSo, since Jonathan is a suspect, Niger Deltans should maintain silence while Northerners conquer our resources. Suppose Jonathan had annulled the elections and a civil war of a greater scale than Yugoslavia, given our over 300 hundred nations engulfed Nigeria? The outcome would have been that the international community would have intervened and a much better outcome in favour of Niger Delta would have been agreed upon. Today, we would have either been on our own or at least fifty percent of our oil wealth would have been the norm; or better yet, confederacy would have been adopted. War brings better peace. Jonathan lacked astute strategists.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, de APc-led admin should show little restraint in tarnishing de image of Jona. He who sees muck is muck, so says Mr Whyte. What we need now is tangible development and abundant food on our tables

ReplyDeleteEnter your comment...you are an old fool for judging him that way.
ReplyDeleteBuhari and his government should leave GEJ alone, he has tried for this country, he left the seat of power that was intoxicating Buhari for him without any argument, APC has tried evrything to implicate him in money lundry, now is Niger Delta Avengers, is a pity to treat a man of peace with all kinds of names when he is to be celebrated for innocent blood not to be shared. If Buhari government is fraustrated they should get out of Aso Rock
ReplyDeleteIF Nigerians have nothing to say about this country but only dwell on tarnishing a God choosing President for Nigeria Dr. Goodluck E Jonathan, then we are not serious. Let us leave the man a lone he has contributed his quota. Let others do same. Note that GEJ is not just Nigeria figure but another Nelson Mandela in Nigeria. Who sacrificed pleasure and power for peace of this Nation, in my opion, he is a national hero and must be treated same. NDA or MEND are frustrated groups they should surrender their ammunition and abreast peace so that development could strive in the Niger Delta region.
ReplyDeleteAPC govt, this is a very big joke you people are molding, I hope you are prepared to gather the particles when the seed will burst. You people should be mindful of this nation and not cheap critics. Note it again that despite all odds the former President of Nigeria in the person of Goodluck Ebele Jonathan still remains the best, this country had had in recent time. You own him the respect at all times, party or no party
Buhari wants war in Nigeria. The Muslim North thinks they have acquired enough weapons to levy war on the South. They will be disappointed by the outcome. Its mere Gboko Haram and quashiokor has got hold of them.Let Bihari continue to stoke war and surely it will come one day
