I’ll forever remain an issue in Ekiti politics — Fayose

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, yesterday, linked his rising political profile to his remarkable achievements and strong ties with the Ekiti people.

Fayose said this during the annual Udiroko festival celebrated at the new amphitheatre in the palace of Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Rufus Aladesanmi Adejugbe.

Fayose, who was flanked by Governor Ibrahim Dakwambo of Gombe State and Rivers State Governor, Nyesome Wike, represented by the Secretary to Rivers State Government, Mr. Kenneth Ubani, said “Whatever you sow you shall reap. If you do good for the people, you will get goodness. I have done well for Ekiti people.

“Look at the Amphi-theatre I built in Ewi’s palace, the dual carriageway from Basiri to Ajilosun, the ongoing flyover, the Awedele dualisation and many others. All these are the projects that are speaking for me and the people will continue to remember me for good.”

Fayose, who promised to liaise with the federal Ministry of Information and Culture with the aim of upgrading Udiroko Festival to a national festival, vowed to reintroduce history as a subject into the state’s curriculum in spite of being expunged by the federal government.

Expressing surprise over the suspension of history as a subject, he said “that is strange, I’m hearing that for the first time.
That must be strange because without the past we can’t make out the future.

History must be told for people to learn out of it and to make a sense out of it.  I believe in history and I believe in our culture.”

Fayose said he has impacted positively on the lives of the people and that accounted for why he remains an issue in the state’s politics.

Oba Adejugbe commended Fayose for all the developmental projects in Ado Ekiti, saying his people will forever remain grateful to him.

He said “The ongoing flyover project deserves commendation. I am using this medium to thank the governor for the completion of   this royal gallery.”
