Gani Adams backs Fayose's anti-grazing law

The Yoruba ethnic group, Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) has described the Ekiti state anti-grazing law as a step in the right direction and should be applauded by all right-thinking people across the country.

Otunba Gani Adams, OPC national Coordinator, in Lagos, said that the action of Governor Fayose and the state House of Assembly on the passage of the anti-grazing bill into law is highly commendable.

The bill prevents herdsmen from carrying weapons.

Adams said: “It is no longer news that the herdsmen have been acting with impunity in communities across the South West.

“They have killed, robbed and raped hapless citizens without any action taken against them by the security agencies. This seeming sense of insecurity and helplessness by the people is a dangerous trend that portends danger for the peaceful coexistence of Nigerians.

“Ekiti State has set the pace and showed us how to stop the senseless killings. I want to implore other state governors, especially in the South-West, to follow this laudable example and pass similar laws that will restrict these herdsmen from their wicked and evil actions.

“We all must remember that cattle business is a private business with private interest.

“Therefore, it should not be made to look to enjoy any special favour by the government. The carrying and use of automatic weapons by herdsmen should be outlawed and Ekiti State has shown the way”, he said.

  1. I still say it that Fayose is not a bastard of Yoruba son, I never liked him before, someone who knows what is right & also stand & fight for what is right is a true Nigerian, & a true Yoruba son, on like many Yoruba bastards who deny his people of justice because of selfishness.
