Former Manchester United goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard has split from his wife Misse Beqiri due to "irreconcilable differences."
The pair have a young son together, three-year-old Julian, and say his upbringing is a priority for them going forward.
A formal statement from Lindegaard and Beqiri said: "Because of irreconcilable differences we have taken the difficult decision to live separate lives.
"The care for our son remains the main priority to both of us.
"We would kindly ask that our privacy gets respected in what is a difficult and upsetting time for all of us.
"We will make no further comment on this matter."
Lindegaard and Beqiri began dating in 2011 and tied the knot at a ceremony in Mauritius in 2014.
The Dane described the wedding as the "best day of our lives" at the time on Twitter, while Beqiri wrote: "Luckiest girl in the world."
But their relationship has clearly taken a turn for the worse this year, and Beqiri, who used to regularly share pictures of the pair on Instagram, hasn't uploaded a picture featuring herself and Lindegaard together for almost six months.
