The Nigeria Labour Congress in Kogi State has alleged that the state Governor, Yahaya Bello is planning to sack workers in the state.
This claim was contained in Bulletin Number 13, issued by the Joint Negotiation Council of the workers in Lokoja.
The bulletin jointly issued by the NLC, the Trade Union Congress and JPSNC, and signed by the Chairman of the state NLC, Onu Edoka, and the TUC Chairman, Ojo Matthew respectively, directed workers to continue to stay at home as the state government had resorted to blackmail the labour union leaders, instead of making efforts to meet workers’ legitimate demands.
It said, “Government wanted to hide under the screening documents so that it can use our signatures for its illicit intention to lay off over 60 per cent of the workforce across the state.
Responding, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Strategy, Alhaji Abdukareem Abdumalik, simply replied “false”.
