Earlier today, online news portal, Signal, shared a photo of President Buhari rocking a Gucci shoe which they claim cost $640 and when converted to Naira is valued at N223, 905.
Reacting to the tweets, the PA to the president on New Media, Bashir Ahmad, shared a photo of President Buhari wearing the pair of shoes during his election campaign days and said he didn't just buy them.
However Nigerians on social media are still reacting to the reports that alleged that the president spent N223, 905 on a shoe.Though it doesn't worth any reply. This was from campaign's days. If they like they can write on it too.— Bashir Ahmad (@BashirAhmaad) July 10, 2016

@Baloobogero @BashirAhmaad @da_taf it won't be an issue if the President didn't pretend to be modest during election campaign— Osika jnr (@ZicOsika) July 10, 2016
Hello @BashirAhmaad please just tweet in Hausa next time and stop embarrassing the Presidency with this manner of English.— Antoinette (@tosdbaby) July 10, 2016

PDP guys are busy talking about Buhari's shoe. If we had focused on cost of Jonathan's Fedora Hats, we wouldn't have won the election.— Imam Imam (@imamdimam) July 10, 2016

How much is that for the President of a rich country like Nigeria to wear. Buhari on his own can afford that. Apc! Werepe change! Na Changi be that!
ReplyDeleteBringing an issue out where there's none - NONSENSE!
ReplyDeleteWhat is wrong with an ex-president wearing a shoe worth 1m let alone 220k? He surely can afford it.
I'm damn sure most commenters here earn an average of 100k salary but uses phone worth more than that. How is that supposed to be an issue? Or any of my business whatsoever?
You can as well wished your president to walk around bare-footed - senseless haters!
Go on PMB, at least you ain't stealing our monies in billions of dollars to acquire properties in choice places all around the world.
God bless and keep PMB!
KJoe
Nonsense! If a common man like me can we a pair of shoes of 300€, that shouldn't be an issue for baba. Moreover he's the president, do you want him to wear Aba made shoes?
ReplyDeleteI'm not APC or Buhair supporters. But I see no problem in him wearing such. Let leave matter & face the reality.
ReplyDeleteNigerians are stoopid, they sold there vote for a bag of Rice.
ReplyDeleteI don't see anything wrong with that, our problem is not the expensive shoes it goes beyond that. The president of a country must look good. So buying expensive shoes is not an issue.
ReplyDeleteIt's not wrong for PMB to wear a pair of shoe worth that amount or more, and it shouldn't be an issue. However it becomes an issue when they deceived people by saying that PMB is not rich in their attempt to show that he is modest. I remember one of his Yoruba supporters during the election that told me that Buhari only receives #25,000 per month out of his entitlement as former head of state and a retired army general because he said that the remaining money should be kept in the government treasury. I simply asked him how Buhari could pay children school fees, put food on the table and pay NEPA bill? The man kept quite and walked away.Anyway, it is the character of Nigeria to lie and win favor from people or condemn the opponents. I remember my cousin, one of Buhari's supporters during the election told me that Osibanjo, as former commissioner and a SAN has no house of his own. He is a muslim and lives in Abuja. I'm a Christian, I live in Lagos. So I know Osibajo. So I asked my cousin when did he get to hear about a man Osibanjo, and he said the time Buhari chose him as his running mate. I have known Osibanjo long before him. He has been to my church and I know that he is a big guy, very big guy. I know the class of people he controls, even in church. But to cut short the story, Osibajo later declared his houses, and my cousin was shocked. The next time my cousin visited lagos, he was ashamed of himself because he LIED.
ReplyDeleteEven I can afford that shoe so what the heck? Haba Nigerians, shoe dey worry una now? Nah so una jobless reach?
ReplyDeleteIt could have been a gift from a supporter, sympathizer, anyone at all. Condelleza Rice was gifted a diamond studded high carat gold bracelet by Qaddafi. Nigerians should dwell less on trivial matters.
ReplyDeleteHaha! iPhone 6s Plus 64G is about that price and so many "non presidential" Nigerian use it. I see no excesses in that yet for Naija President. God bless
ReplyDeleteEven animals who are not tortoise wear designer outfits so what is wrong in me or anybody else putting on a costly item? Some of us are damn right mischievous!
ReplyDeleteplease, always use your sence before you make your stupid commets. nigeria are stoopid. you too are stupid
ReplyDeleteI never believe for once that PMB is poor the man that owns herds of foreign cows back home in Daura....he was only faking pious nature mind his children had been schooling abroad which poor man can afford that? He was only gaining the poor masses sympathy I laughed when I saw his campaign scratch card for the masses contribution towards his campign...all na wash wash nd it worked for him.
ReplyDeleteDeceit! Deceit! Deceit! What is the minimum monthly wage of federal workers?
