The Nigerian Army has announced its plans to prevent a plot being fulfilled to overthrow President Muhammadu Buhari.
According to reports, Major-General Isidore Edet revealed that the phone lines of soldiers and officers will be monitored in order to track any plans that may be in action already.
In addition, text messages sent by those enlisted will also be monitored.
"What we need to do as soldiers is to be on the guard, to be watchful of the people that go in and out of the barracks, our mammy markets and places where we eat.
"We should be careful of what we hear them say by listening attentively so that we can pick what they are saying or planning because when those people want to do this things they come into the barracks and try to incite the barracks community on things that are happening in the country, with words like: 'Don’t you think you should do something?'" Edet stated.
Militant group, the Niger Delta Liberation Force, recently disclosed an alleged plot within the Nigerian Army to cause crises and facilitate a coup to overthrow President Buhari.
Authorities have since refuted the claim, however, stating that the allegations are the handiwork of mischievous entities.
