Chris Ngige, minister of labour and employment, Ibe Kachikwu, minister of state for petroleum, will on Thursday meet with representatives of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN).
Samuel Olowookere, deputy director (press) in the ministry of labour, said this in a statement.
The statement said a “crucial meeting’’ was being convened to find a lasting solution to the lingering problems in the oil and gas sector.
It said the meeting had been scheduled for 10am in Abuja.
Earlier in the week, PENGASSAN threatened to embark on a nationwide strike beginning from Thursday.
The association had listed mass sack of its members by various oil and gas companies as one of the reasons for the proposed industrial action.
