The Nigeria Football Federation President, Amaju Pinnick, has claimed that Paul Le Guen was not officially appointed, despite the Frenchman being recommended by the Technical and Development Committee of the NFF for the Super Eagles job on Monday.
Pinnick, who preferred Le Guen amongst the three shortlisted candidates for the Super Eagles job, insisted that there might still be elements of the NFF’s terms the Frenchman does not agree with.
“It (Le Guen’s appointment) was not announced as a done deal,” Pinnick wrote via his verified official Twitter handle @PinnickAmaju when he was questioned about reports Le Guen rejected NFF’s offer.
“If the Technical Committee recommended a coach subject to contractual and other agreements doesn’t mean he is the coach.
“Assuming he says he doesn’t want to live in Nigeria or cannot meet our target for WC qualification, should we still go ahead?
Le Guen had told a French media outlet L’Equipe that he was shocked to be named the technical adviser of the Super Eagles as he had no idea he was being considered for the job because it was never discussed or agreed upon.
