Oneness. Togetherness. Tolerance. These are some of the hallmarks of religion. And as if to prove this, the authorities of the Cherubim and Seraphim church, Ebenezer Model Parish, Abeokuta, Ogun state, gave their premises to Muslim faithful to hold eid prayers on Wednesday.
Pictures of Muslims converging on the sprawling compound of the church have been circulating on social media.
The Abeokuta incident will be appreciated when analysed from the perspective of recent disturbing occurrences on religious grounds.
Last month, Bridget Agbahime, a 74-year-old trader, was murdered in Kano over alleged blasphemy.
One week after that incident, Francis Emmanuel, a Christian, was beaten to coma by some youths in Kakuri, a community in Kaduna state, for not observing the Ramadan fast.
In Osun state, there is still tension among Christians and Muslims over the court ruling permitting female students to wear hijab in schools.
The Abeokuta example is really worthy of commendation.

ReplyDeleteYes we can and we are still doing it e.g during the clash btw students of olabisi Onabanjo university and indigenes of ago iwoye in 2005, christians were camped and protected by Muslims at the school mosque at the mini campus. God is my witness and every other person who witnessed d mayhem we went through. Please find out from others. What you don't know, stop displaying it in public. Your spelling of Muslims (moslems) shows your ignorance about Islam and Muslims. Don't allow islamaphobia virus destroy your life oo.
DeleteNa your ignorance pass. He spelt Muslim in his local language just like you spell Book Boko in yours.Idiotic fool!
