Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has appealed to the Federal Government to fix the failed portions of the Benin-Ekpoma-Auchi-Okene highway which has turned to a nightmare for motorists in the state.
Speaking during a visit of the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola (SAN) to him in his office, Governor Oshiomhole said the last government which worked on the road left it far worse than they met it.
He said: “right now, I have difficulty going home to my village because of what your predecessor did. I have tried to explain it and it is important we explain it, not because anybody believes in what they call blame game, but the truth is that if the road wasn’t touched at all, it would have been better than it is now, and it was better.
“I did argue then that what they were doing was going to create more problems. The truth is that they have left the road worse off than it was before the haphazard dualisation which is now creating a lot of problems.” He continued, “Our people, if they found out that I didn’t talk about the road, they would think I am not taking advantage of my privileged relationship with you. I can remember vividly the numbers of time he visit Obasanjo in Aso Rock whenever he goes on and out then he call of strike without anything tangible for the work force. He left office to form the Labour party. Left the party to beg for a slot in PDP. He was kick out and then jump to then A.C.N now APC.8 good years in office not a single factory or industry to your name. Instead you decide to build a university in your home town while AAU is left unattended to and students find it difficult to pay their school fees. Even if the new university is free. Where is job for them after graduation? You increase minimum wage to 25k 4months to election all as political strategies to win votes. Yet you stop owing months of salary, meaning your successor will bear the burden of the new wage. Your hell fire is been prepared by Abacha and Idi Amin with iroko and walnut tree.
