Fix economic crisis, Nigerians are suffering – PDP tells Buhari

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has noted that many Nigerians are suffering, requesting the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government to come up with a means of arresting the slide in the country’s economy.

Noting the issues of unemployment, terrorism, Fulani herdsmen’s attacks, inflation, infrastructural decadence and militancy that have permeated every part of the country, the party added its voice to calls for the restructuring of the country, stressing that the restructuring remained the only solution to the country’s challenges.

This was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of a meeting held on Tuesday in Akure by the leaders of the PDP in the South-West, which was signed by the National Vice-Chairman, South-West PDP, Eddy Olafeso, and 21 other leaders.

The opposition party also lamented the incarceration of some of its leaders by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, adding that despite the persecution of the opposition, it would not refrain from presenting constructive criticism to the government in order for the government to fulfill its electoral promises to Nigerians.

The communiqué reads, “The Federal Government must tackle the issues of unemployment, terrorism, Fulani herdsmen’s attacks, inflation, infrastructural decadence and militancy that have permeated every part of this country without actions to check the sufferings of the masses.

“The zonal chapter also calls for the implementation of measures that will ameliorate the sufferings of the masses as the APC administration has dissipated most of its energy on an anti-corruption crusade which, unfortunately, seems to be targeted at only the leaders of the opposition, particularly in the South-West.”

“Contrary to the thought of the APC-led Federal Government, we, in the South-West PDP, want the government to succeed in contributing its quota to the growth and development of this country,” the party said.
